The main ‘Soprano’ at this wedding wasn’t the one singing ‘Ave Maria.’ It was the groom. On Sept. 15 in the Omni William Penn ballroom, Upper St. Clair high school graduate Anne Lauterbach exchanged vows with New York actor Matthew Servitto, who plays federal agent Dwight Harris on ‘The Sopranos.’ ‘I was originally hired to do one episode. That turned into three episodes,’ says Servitto, who won a Screen Actors Guild award for the show last year. ‘It’s something I never thought I’d be recognized for.’ Servitto, who also has appeared in the NBC series ‘Ed’ and commercials for the Olive Garden restaurant chain, met Lauterbach in New York. She was lunching with a mutual friend from Los Angeles. ‘Matt walked up to the table and introduced himself, and I ignored him,’ recalls Lauterbach, an actress and cabaret singer who has provided voiceover work for documentary maker Lee Grant. She took a second look when the two crossed paths again at Arthur’s Tavern, where she and three other singers had gone one night. ‘We were doing this cabaret crawl,’ Lauterbach says, ‘basically trying to sell our show. We’d basically go into a club, do a shot, sing a song and move on to the next club. I noticed Matt. I said, ‘You’re adorable, what’s your story?’ He turned to me and said, ‘I’m Matt. What are you doing for the rest of my life?’ ” The couple now live on New York’s Upper West Side, four blocks from Lincoln Center. The union could mark the beginning of a show-biz dynasty. Lauterbach, the youngest of four children, performed as a Civic Light Opera Mini-Star under the directorship of Van Kaplan. Last year, she played Mrs. Cratchit in the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera’s production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ at the Byham Theater. ‘I grew up with the CLO,’ she says. Her mother, Carol Lauterbach, still lives in Upper St. Clair. Two of her three brothers, Peter and Mark, are co-owners of Bravo Franco’s Ristorante in the Cultural District. Servitto has written and directed a short film titled ‘Jesus Tells a Joke.’ He begins filming ‘The Sopranos’ in a couple of weeks and is set to appear in ‘Garmento,’ an independent film comedy about the garment industry in New York. He also will guest on the new ‘Law & Order’ spinoff, ‘Criminal Intent.’ ‘The main production I’ve been working on is my wedding,’ he says. Ditto for the bride, who had to rush home from the touring production of ‘Casper’ last spring to be fitted for her wedding dress. While no other ‘Sopranos’ cast members attended the wedding, the show biz heavies who attended from both coasts were impressed with Pittsburgh, says Servitto, a native of Detroit. ‘They had nothing but great things to say about Pittsburgh,’ he says. ‘So many of them fell in love with the town.’ As has Servitto. ‘I was really overwhelmed,’ he says.
