South Greensburg Borough Council Monday adopted an ordinance amending the definition of a setback within each zoning district. Solicitor Dominic Ciarimboli said all setback lines will be measured 15 feet from each property’s right-of-way line in all residential zoning districts. Council also accepted a resolution from the borough planning commission that declared Huff Avenue as a partially blighted area. Councilman Donald Miller questioned whether the borough has any recourse on certain blighted properties along Huff Avenue. “Can we force these property owners to tear down these buildings or renovate them?” Miller asked. “If the area is designated as blighted, what does that allow the borough to do?” Councilwoman Betty Dobies said council’s acceptance of the planning commission’s resolution will enable the borough to apply for street beautification grant money. In other action, council approved the appointments of Scott Hixson and Teresa Santone to the recreation board.
