The activity at the South Side Market House will continue to increase in the next few weeks, beginning Saturday with the resumption of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's distribution program for needy families.
Recipients are reminded to bring their own boxes, bags or wheeled carts.
The mayor's office also announced Thursday that the Market House, which closed in March 2011 because of structural deficiencies, will again serve as a polling place for the Nov. 6 election.
The first floor of the Market House reopened in June. The second floor should do so in mid-November, with a remodeled gym and renovations making the area accessible to people with disabilities.
