Steve George Sr.

  • Age: 60

  • Residence: Moon

  • Family: Wife, Judy; son, Steve Jr.; two daughters, Jean Bender, of Redwood City, Calif., and Katheryn George, of Mt. Washington

  • Occupation: George retired in 1998 from the Moon Area School District, where he had been a high school math and computer science teacher for 32 years. He had also coached the high school bowling team for 23 years and currently works part time for All-American Bowling Equipment Co. in Moon installing computerized scoring and bowling centers.

  • Noteworthy: Moon supervisors recently recognized George for his 15 years of service to Moon Community Access Television advisory board, the past 11 years as its chairman. He retired from the board at the end of December.

  • Quote: "I really liked working with the people and setting up the rules and regulations concerning the studio. I like the idea it has a local flavor. The citizens of Moon Township can use the facility to produce a program," he said. "The people in the township have an opportunity to see the government in action. They see the school board meetings and the supervisor meetings. There's a lot of informational programming on there."
