More than 900 Spaniards have been struck ill with salmonella poisoning after ingesting tainted chicken.
In the three days since the epidemic was first reported, some 921 people have taken ill, El Mundo reported Wednesday.
A 90-year-old man reportedly died after eating the chicken, though authorities said they would have to conduct more tests to determine conclusively if salmonella was the cause of death.
Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include intense abdominal pain and vomiting. Many of those afflicted went to the hospital for treatment.
Spain's Consumer Action Federation has told victims to save whatever remains of the chickens they ingested and pursue legal action against the company that produced it, the Dutch-owned SADA firm.
