Spring Hill fire that claimed 18-month-old deemed accidental

The death of an 18-month-old Spring Hill girl when flames swept through her home earlier this week was ruled an accident on Friday by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.

Nina Risher died of thermal and inhalation injuries in the fire that erupted Sunday night in her family's Rhine Street apartment, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said.

City fire investigators have not said what started the fire.

Nina's sister was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital in critical condition. A condition update on her was not available on Friday night. Seven other people were also were hurt.
