Sprinkler system causes water leak at Springhill Suites Marriott at Bakery Square

People were cleaning up Thursday morning in the Springhill Suites Marriott at Bakery Square after a water problem there.

Water appeared to be trickling from the second floor down to the first at the Larimer building shortly about 9:30 a.m.

Pittsburgh fire department officials said problems with the sprinkler piping system caused the leak due to freeze and thaw issues.

Cold temperatures have caused several water mains and pipes to burst across the city, fire officials said.
