Patrick Rooney Sr., a Pittsburgh Steelers co-owner who lives in West Palm Beach, Fla., has endorsed Republican Sen. John McCain for president.

Rooney's brother, Steelers co-owner and Chairman Dan Rooney, has endorsed Democrat Barack Obama, a senator from Illinois.

"I know that America's future would be best guarded by a true hero and patriot -- John McCain," Patrick Rooney, owner of the Palm Beach Kennel Club, a dog-racing track, said in a statement.

"My family has been blessed and is fortunate to have lived the 'American Dream,'" he said. "Senator McCain offers the best hope for every citizen of this great nation to achieve this realization as well."

Both Rooneys are sons of Arthur J. Rooney Sr., the Steelers' founder, who was a longtime Republican.

Upon endorsing Obama shortly before the Pennsylvania primary, Dan Rooney didn't say whether the move meant he would be changing his voter registration from the Republican Party.
