The Pittsburgh Steelers today re-signed outside linebacker Justin Kurpeikis.

Kurpeikis, a second-year player from Allison Park and Penn State, was on the Steelers' roster to begin the season, but was released Oct. 22. Kurpeikis replaces Matt Cushing, who was signed at that time to add depth to the tight end position, which was depleted by injuries.

Cushing, a third-year veteran, originally made the Steelers' 53-man roster this season, but was released Sept. 24 so the team could sign tight end/long-snapper Dan O'Leary. Cushing played with the Steelers in 2001 and was added to the roster during the middle of the 1999 and 2000 seasons after being released in training camp.
