Steelworkers group invites retirees
SOAR retirees welcome
SOAR — Steelworks Organization of Active Retires.
Where are (the retirees)? There must be hundreds if not thousands of you out there!
We meet on the first Tuesday of every month. We have coffee and doughnuts and (the organization) informs us about Social Security, insurance and other items that should interest all of us.
After working with people you saw every day for the past 30 or 40 years, wouldn’t you like to see them again? Or not … meet new people your age?
The dues are $1.25 a month, but you can come to a couple meetings just to see if you like it first. I worked for over 40 years at Irvin Works, both in the mill and later in the office. I met a lot of good people over that time. I do not think they just all moved south; there must be a few up here.
Come up to the meeting, see if you like it, it’s only for a couple of hours on the first Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. at Steelworks Union Hall No. 2227 just up the road from where the Fisher Body plant once stood.
You do not have to had worked at any U.S. Steel plants; anyone retired can be part of the SOAR group no matter were you have worked.
Thank you for your time and we all hope to see you next Tuesday.
