David Donahoe
David Donahoe, 66, has spent his life in public service, inspired by his grandfather, former Pittsburgh Mayor and Pennsylvania Gov. David L. Lawrence.
Donahoe earned his bachelor's degree in secondary education at University of Pittsburgh in 1971, initially seeking to teach high school social studies.
A summer internship with Allegheny County Commissioner Tom Foerster changed Donahoe's course, and led him to his wife of 44 years, Judy, who was working as Foerster's secretary.
The couple has two adult children and four grandchildren, ranging from kindergarten to age 13.
In his free time, Donahoe is a voracious reader of mostly nonfiction history books, currently enjoying David McCullough's latest best-seller, “The Wright Brothers.” He also frequents the theater and symphony.
