Cobra Golf has earned a reputation for producing hot, forgiving drivers, and its latest offerings fits that mold. Cobra has introduced the HS9 Speed Series of drivers, a 460cc trio of drivers specifically designed for distinct player types and their specific ball speeds. The clubs have heads three different heads: X (extreme speed), F (fast) and M (moderate). Players can determine the optimal driver for their game by identifying their ball speed, swing speed and/or average driving distance. Cobra also matches customized, graphite design YS shafts that are tuned to each individual model to optimize the performance of each club, increasing the accuracy and distance. The Speed Series drivers have a suggested retail price of $480.

TEE SHOTS

Despite the fact that courses are getting longer and longer, the driver is not necessarily always the only choice. If you're not feeling good about your driver, don't keep hitting it, hoping for the best and getting the worst. If you hit your 3-wood solidly and straight, use it. Get the ball in the fairway and make par that way. On this and every other shot you face, play to your strengths.
