Strip mall, eatery, kids’ gym on packed agenda
Cranberry supervisors are facing a busy night Thursday when they are expected to act on several development projects, including a 27,000-square-foot strip mall.
Supervisors are expected to vote on Rochester Square, a strip mall proposed for the intersection of Route 19, Wisconsin Avenue and Rochester Road; a Chick-fil-A restaurant; My Gym Children’s Fitness Center; and an American Signature Furniture Store.
Supervisors already had approved the Rochester Square project, but the developer returned to the township because the plans have been altered.
Plans for the BP gas station that was going to be developed across the street in conjunction with Rochester Square have been dropped, so the developer had to amend the plans for traffic adjustments. Wisconsin Avenue westbound will be widened to include a right-turn-only lane.
Chick-fil-A, a 4,541-square-foot fast-food chicken restaurant with drive-through service, is planned along Route 228, near where a Cracker Barrel had been approved in 2002. Officials from the restaurant said the Cranberry Chick-fil-A would be a prototype for the chain’s sit-down restaurants. The restaurant would seat 146 people.
The My Gym Children’s Fitness Center plans to open along Freedom Road. The 3,000-square-foot recreation center would be on the second story of the building where the Starbuck’s and Rita’s are located.
American Signature plans to move into the former Kmart store at Cranberry Mall. American Signature officials also want to add another 2,877 square feet to the existing 88,000-square-foot building.
American Signature, a new furniture chain that is a subsidiary of Value City Department stores, plans to take the majority of the space Kmart filled and subdivide two smaller parcels.
Also expected on the agenda is a development of 46 homes on 52 acres along Plains Church and Hope roads.
The developer would extend part of the township’s existing sewer loop to serve the Shadow Creek development.
Supervisors are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the municipal building, 2525 Rochester Road.
