One of the bright spots in the struggling economy is the sale of chicks, as in young chickens. The New York Times reports a growing number of people, even those in urban settings, are raising chickens for eggs and meat as something of a hedge should the economy grow worse. Sixty prominent German scientists have sent a letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel formally dissenting from the view of man-made global warming. They say global warming has become a "pseudo religion" and argue that rising levels of C02 have "had no measurable effect" on temperatures. Among the scientists are several who once signed on to now discredited climate studies sponsored by the United Nations. Perhaps the tide is turning against the ecocratic, social re-engineering, heavily salted nuts.
