Republicans are calling on Senate Judiciary Democrats to release hundreds of internal memos they received from liberal activist groups opposed to John Roberts' confirmation as chief justice. What a hoot it will be to compare the memos' wording to the words that came out of the mouth of Polly-want-a-cracker Democrats. ... The Hill newspaper reports that labor and conservative sources it interviewed agree that abandoning wage floors (such as those President Bush suspended in the Davis-Bacon Act) will increase the efficiency of the massive Gulf Coast rebuilding project. Yet, for the record, major unions are attacking the administration as "mean-spirited." Union parrots are talking out of both sides of their mouths. Imagine that. ... Rick Santorum isn't setting the 2008 presidential preference polls on fire. He's ranked 10th in a recent PoliticalDerby.com survey. But the junior senator of Pennsylvania should not despair. A GOP that's likely to turn left for the top spot very well could find Mr. Right a quite compelling No. 2 balancing act. ... Bobby Casey Jr.'s Senate campaign spokesman, Jay Reiff, insists his boss did not attempt to raise campaign cash by exploiting Hurricane Katrina victims. Camp Casey criticized some Rick Santorum hurricane comments using a Web template that offered a link to Mr. Casey's fundraising arm. Sniff-sniff. What's that smell like to you?
