Pittsburgh police shut down the Roberto Clemente Bridge for about an hour Tuesday after someone found a suspicious backpack on the bridge.

Police were called to the bridge linking Downtown and the North Shore about 5:35 p.m.

It was reopened about 6:30 p.m. when the bomb squad determined the backpack did not contain explosives, Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.
