The six-week youth swim program scheduled at the Connellsville Community Center has been canceled.

Baseball

C'ville LL

The Connellsville Little League will hold sign-ups from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday for kids ages 5-12. Tri-Town players will register at the Vanderbilt Borough building. All other players will sign up at the major field. Cost is $25 for the first child, $15 for the second child and free for the third child in a family. First-time players should bring a birth certificate.

Dunbar LL

The Dunbar Little League will hold sign-ups from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and March 5 and 12 at the Dunbar Fire Hall and Springfield Fire Hall. Sign-ups are open for boys and girls ages 5-12 as of Aug. 1. The cost for registration is $25 for the first child, $15 for the second child and $10 for each additional child in the same family. A birth certificate is required.

Fay-West Youth

The Fay-West Youth Baseball League will be holding sign-ups from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, and March 5, 12, 19 and 26 at the Jacobs Creek Park concession stand. Sign-ups will also take place from 6-8 p.m. on March 9, 16, 23 and 30. The league is open to boys and girls ages 4-12. The cost is $25 for the first child and $15 for each additional child in the same family. Every player will receive an all-day ride pass and free bus ride to Kennywood Park. Bullskin LL

The Bullskin Little League will hold sign-ups for baseball, softball and T-ball from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, and March 5 and 12 at the supervisors building. There will also be a sign-up from 6-8 p.m. on March 1. Sign-ups are for boys ages 5-12 and girls ages 5-18 as of Aug. 1. Registration fee is $25 for the first child, $15 for the second child and $10 for each additional child in the same family. Players should bring a birth certificate. Basketball

Steeler hoops

The Steeler Footballers basketball team will play against the Southmoreland All-Stars at 8 p.m. on March 1 at Southmoreland High School. Doors open at 7 p.m. Prior to the game, evening festivities will include a 3-point shooting contest. At halftime, there will be an autograph session. The event is sponsored by the Southmoreland Boys and Girls Basketball Parents' Organization and all proceeds will benefit the teams. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at Carson's Tavern, Mt. Pleasant Wendy's, A+ Sports, Scottdale Fox's Pizza Den, Colton's Restaurant, PAK and any district school.

All-Star game

Penn State-Fayette will hold an all-star boys basketball game at 7:30 p.m. on March 11 at the school gymnasium. The game will feature selected players from Westmoreland County against selected players from Fayette County. Practice nights will be held on Monday and March 2.

Tournament

The Uniontown Area YMCA will hold its 18th annual coaches basketball tournament on March 4-6 and 11-13. The last day to register for the tournament is Friday. The cost is $70 per team. There will be both roster and open divisions for girls and boys in prep, elementary and junior high. For more information, call the YMCA at 724-438-2584.

Softball

New league

A new men's slow pitch softball league is being formed and the league is looking for teams. For more information, call 724-628-3112 or 724-880-6882.

City Ball

City Ball Heat will be holding a softball clinic for all girls ages 5-11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 12. The cost is $20. An additional clinic will be held for all girls ages 12-18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 19. Sign-ups will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Connellsville Community Center. CGSL

The Connellsville Girls Softball League will hold registration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the American Legion in Trotter. Sign-ups will also be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday. Girls must be at least five years old as of April 1 and cannot be 19 before Aug. 31. Registration is $25 for the first child, $15 for the second child and the third child in the same family is free. A birth certificate is required.

EH Sportsmen

= Trap practice for the public will begin at 7 p.m. on March 7.

Miscellaneous

Hot Shots triathlon

Hot Shots will hold a soccer, basketball and volleyball triathlon on April 16-17. All games will be played with five players aside and a team can have no more than seven players registered. All registered players must participate in all three sports. The team fee is $150. For more information, call Hot Shots at 724-547-5700.
