Tambellini's Restaurant, a family-owned Italian bistro in Bridgeville, will close Dec. 31.

Owner Dan Tambellini said he is retiring. He sold the restaurant to a business group in Upper St. Clair, which will turn the building into a micro brewery called the Rail Yard.

“After 30 years, I figured it was enough time,” Tambellini said.

He will continue to market his homemade sauces but no longer wanted the pressure of running a restaurant.

“I'm looking for a little less stress. I want to spend more time with my grandkids,” he said.

The bistro, which has 42 employees, is not connected to other Tambellini restaurants in the region, he said.

Tambellini told his staff a few weeks ago of his decision to sell.

“They all offered to stay until the end of our tenure here. It's just so kind,” he said.

Many customers have told him they are sad to see him leave.

“People sure are disappointed that we won't be here,” Tambellini said.
