Commercial Center Associates has created a temporary parking lot for two of its Uniontown businesses during the holiday season while the real estate company finalizes plans for a development intended to complement the city's Main Street corridor.

The firm developed the lot of about 20 spaces for customers of 30 East Main, a restaurant, and the Nemacolin Collection, three clothing shops inside the former Penn Theater, according to Jessica Hajek, Commercial Center's director of development.

Commercial Center was founded in 2004 by multimillionaire businessman Joe Hardy, who also serves as a Fayette County commissioner.

Last month, Hajek confirmed that the purchase of a handful of properties along East Main Street, South Gallatin Avenue and South Street were part of a new development. Since then, construction crews have demolished a former beauty shop at 38 E. Main St. and a former law office at 40 E. Main St.

Hajek said the development plans haven't been finalized, but one of the possibilities could be a multimillion-dollar "family-oriented entertainment venue."
