Terrelle Pryor's NFL career might be put on hold

Former Jeannette High School football star Terrelle Pryor, who left Ohio State in June, doesn't know if he will be able to play in the NFL this season.

The NFL released its 2011 calendar Monday, but a supplemental draft -- Pryor's avenue to professional football this year -- was not among the key dates.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an email to FOXSports.com that if there are no eligible players, the league won't conduct a supplemental draft.

The draft is designed for players whose circumstances have changed after the regular college draft in April, but Pryor doesn't qualify because he was not suspended for the entire season at Ohio State, was not declared academically ineligible and hasn't graduated.

If there is no supplemental draft this year, Pryor would have to wait until next year's college draft.

"We were told by the NFL that there would be no answer until there was a new CBA deal," Pryor's agent Drew Rosenhaus said. "Obviously, we're hopeful and confident the NFL will include Terrelle in a supplemental draft. We have to set up a workout and get him to meet with teams. We have to take physicals and what-not. We have a lot of work to do."

Pryor scheduled a workout for today, but it was canceled, Jeannette coach Roy Hall said. No new workout date is planned.

Pryor might qualify if the NCAA rules after its ongoing investigation of the Ohio State program that Pryor would have been ineligible for the entire season.

Pryor left Ohio State on June 7, a week after former coach Jim Tressel resigned.
