To the editor:

Thanks to all the school districts that opted out of Act 72. It's time we citizens of Pennsylvania have the right to speak up and say what we think about what is fair to us.

What we need to do is send Gov. Rendell a brown bag, a pig in a poke, and ask for the $300 that he was offering us. Nothing was fact. Gov. Rendell, a Democrat, has estimated $1 billion a year will flow from slots to schools beginning in 2007. He is dreaming. He is talking out if his hat.

We need taxed no more. Our STOP (Stop Taxing Our Property) Bill, SB 717-718 and HB 1572-1573, would give us that, but Harrisburg won't listen. The representatives and senators are not for us, they are only for themselves. If you remember when Gov. Rendell was running he said the first thing he would do is have a session of tax relief. Well ,we are still waiting.

Rendell said he should have mandated the Act 72 offer. So it tells you something is behind this. Call your lawmakers and tell them. We want no more taxes. The STOP hotline is 724-545-4862 or you can write to STOP, PO Box 278, Elderton, Pa. 15736.
