After months of hinting, Fox's "The Simpsons" has revealed the identity of its new gay character as Marge's sister Patty Bouvier.

In the Sunday episode, "There's Something About Marrying," that advised "parental discretion," Homer Simpson became an ordained minister via the Internet and offered to marry homosexual couples for $200 after the town of Springfield legalized same-sex marriage, the BBC reported Monday.

In the show, Marge's sister explained how she fell for professional golfer Veronica.

"At a time when the public mood is overwhelmingly against gay marriage, any show that promotes gay marriage is deliberately bucking the public mood," said L. Brent Bozell, president of the Parents Television Council.
