British modern rockers, the Smiths, rejected a $5 million offer to reunite for the U.S. Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival.

The band's former frontman, Morrissey, made the revelation Friday during a interview at the South by Southwest Music & Media Conference in Austin, Texas, Billboard.com reported.

Morrissey said he never even considered the multimillion dollar offer "because money doesn't come into it."

He said guitarist Johnny Marr is the one who wanted to end the Smiths.

"I didn't feel we should have ended," he said. "I wanted to continue."

The rocker who was "emo" before emo was a genre, admitted his album coming out April 4, "Ringleader of the Tormentors," is a little more upbeat.

"I'm just seeing lots of joyful things in life, which I didn't in the past," he said.

Morrissey was part of the lineup at the Austin Music Hall Friday night with Goldfrapp, Richard Hawley, Corinne Bailey Rae and the Zutons.
