The wrong ‘vision'

Mitt Romney's vision of America shouldn't be the vision of the poor and the middle class. Romney's budget plan is online. Read it and you'll see the rich will get richer, the poor and middle class will get poorer, and seniors will be devastated.

The Romney/Paul Ryan plan is a return to the George W. Bush economic meltdown.

It's ironic that throughout our history, progressives keep saving the capitalistic system from its excesses. Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson saved us from the robber barons. Franklin Roosevelt and the New Deal saved us from the economic abuses of the '20s and the Great Depression. Barack Obama rescued us from another depression.

Today, we are faced with the greatest economic disparity in our history, with most of the wealth at the top. And those at the top “didn't build that” themselves. We all contributed to their success by paying for the highways, bridges, rails and other infrastructure and by buying their products and services.

Romney/Ryan will leave American workers and their families without jobs, health care or pensions.

I endorse President Barack Obama. We cannot afford “vulture capitalism” and another G.W. Bush economic disaster.
