Tiffany & Co. sues Tiffany's Restaurant
Famed jeweler Tiffany & Co. has sacked Fox TV football commentator Tony "The Goose" Siragusa with a lawsuit over the name of his New Jersey eatery.
The retired NFL defenseman who helped the Baltimore Ravens win the Superbowl in 2001 is a part-owner of a New Jersey rib joint called Tiffany's Restaurant, the New York Post reported Saturday.
Tiffany & Co. filed suit in Newark, N.J., federal court asking that the restaurant be forced to change its name and turn over all profits it has made.
The restaurant was founded by Michael Romanelli in Hollywood, Fla., more than 25 years ago, the Post noted. He relocated his flagship eatery to Union, N.J., and has similar diners open in Morris Plains, Pine Brook and Toms River, N.J.
Siragusa and Romanelli say employees of Tiffany & Co.'s headquarters in nearby Parsippany, N.J., eat at their restaurant all the time.
"It's the classic 'giant going after the little guy,'" the 6-foot-3, 350-pound Siragusa told the Post. "This is the first time I've ever been considered the little guy."
