Colin McNickle's theory that voters should spank the Republicans by staying home on Election Day is like letting your house burn down because you have a couple of mice (" Vote Republican⢠Deliver a spanking ," Oct. 22 and PghTrib.com). Possibly an acceptable idea if you live in the South Pacific, where you can live outdoors for a couple of years until you get a new home, but not a good idea if you live in Antarctica. Unfortunately we live in a harsh, cold, geopolitical world created by terrorists and liberal judges who coddle those who abet them. We could probably endure the higher taxes and sluggish economy a Democrat victory would create, but the lack of will to confront evil at home and abroad would be disastrous. If you think sitting out the election is a good idea, go ahead and send your letters of surrender to The New York Times, George Soros and Nancy Pelosi. Tell them you will accept their view of how the world should be because you are not willing to fight for your ideals. Don McIlwain Greensburg
