Tollgrade Communications Inc. is venturing into the growing Internet protocol TV business.

The Harmar-based maker of network test software and products said it has an agreement with Mariner Partners Inc. of Canada for a customized version of Mariner's xVu TV Care -- used to check IPTV systems for high-quality picture and sound delivery to subscribers.

Tollgrade said it will integrate xVu technology into its Stratum service assurance platform, which is in customer trials.
