Last week, you ran a letter to the editor about the Apollo City Council planning to cut the trees down on First Street. Well, guess what• This woman has other people on her side. It is wrong to cut these trees down. The trees were put there through a grant from the historical society a number of years ago. The trees have been decorated for Christmas up until about two years ago.

The people in city council don't realize that this was a grant to beautify the town. The historical society worked very hard to get this grant.

There are other people who care about that. Now the businesses claim that their signs can't be seen. Well, the trees were put there to beautify the town. All the businesses had to do was approach the borough to have them trimmed. It just so happened a business -- a couple of years ago -- decided to go on their own and do it and practically destroyed one of the trees. This upset a lot of people on the Beautification and Christmas Committees to the point that they argued with city council and city council said they would do something about it and never did.

That's how I feel about city council. I feel strongly on this issue and I hope people of Apollo feel the same way.
