There are few things I hate worse than driving in the snow. I'd rather weigh myself while standing in line at the DMV as I'm getting a shot than move my car an inch when there's white stuff on the roads.
So, after a recent white-knuckle drive home, I wanted a bath. No, I needed a bath. The muscles in my neck, shoulders and back were doing their best impression of concrete.
Despite having enough beauty products to open a Sephora shop out of my bathroom, I've never used milk bath. (I can't believe it, either.)
I added about a cup of Clairvoyant's Milk Bath Soak to a nearly full tub of water. I immediately could feel the difference the trifecta of ingredients made. My legs were instantly velvety smooth from the lactose and sea salt, and the baking soda eased my chronically sore lower back (I'm looking at you, IKEA couch) and tight shoulders. I'll get a few baths out of the 16-ounce jar, which, at $18, is way less than what I blow when I hit one of my favorite day spas.
I've been trying to live a cleaner, healthier lifestyle since we flipped the calendar, so I appreciate the natural, organic products in the milk bath. But the coolest thing? The tiny wooden scoop that comes with it. Totally adorable.
After a 10 1⁄2-hour day at the word factory, capped by a 20-minute run in the arctic with a frisky golden retriever, I was more than ready to channel my inner Cleopatra in a hot bath accented with Clairvoyant Beauty Milk Bath Soak. Although my soak was relaxing, this product simply does not live up to its billing.
As a matter of fact, I couldn't see any impact whatsoever from the generous half-cup or so I dumped in the tub. For those with super-tender skin or allergies, this natural bath additive may be just thing, but I think I'll stick with the lavender-scented Epsom salt I buy in bulk at the drugstore.
As a pregnant woman weeks away from delivery, I know a thing or two about sore muscles and the need to relax. I've always preferred baths over showers, so I also know a bit about products that can help ease away the stress of the day.
Clairvoyant Beauty Milk Bath Soak promises to provide a feeling of complete relaxation with its soothing natural ingredients: lactic acid, sea salt and baking soda.
For me, the effect was too subtle to be soothing. During the first use, I barely detected anything different, so I doubled the recommended amount on the second try. Again, no noticeable increased sense of calm or relaxation. The product is practically odorless, remains clear in the water and seems to just dissolve into nothing.
One plus was the nice effect the product had on my skin, which felt so soft, I was able to cut back on the usual post-bath slathering of body lotion.
But overall, I was underwhelmed and won't be adding this particular product to my list of must-haves.
