When my husband and I bought our first house two years ago, we had big dreams of restoring it to its turn-of-the-century Victorian greatness. Those dreams still are strong, but they're somewhat clouded -- by turn-of-the-century plaster dust. As anyone who ever has undertaken a renovation will tell you, it's a dirty job. The dust, grease and dirt find its way into every nook and cranny. And, cleaning it up can be wasteful, especially when relying on flimsy paper towels. Last weekend's project -- winterizing the windows -- resulted in a much lighter garbage bag, thanks to Kimberly-Clark Professional's new WypAll Work Towels. Normal windows don't require much cleaning before sealing them with tape and plastic. But when your windows are coated with decades of grime, topped off by a layer of renovation dust, a lot of elbow grease, a strong detergent and a good towel are a necessity. Two WypAlls did all seven windows without tearing. A 100-towel box is well worth the $10 price tag.

One of the annoyances of the modern world is the evaporating availability of useable rags for wiping, mopping up and just general cleaning tasks The increase in synthetic and synthetic-blend fabrics renders nearly all modern sheets and shirts useless. They're sturdy enough and tear-proof but, for the most part, they repel rather than soak up liquids. That's not the case with WypAll Work Towels. These industrial-strength paper towels mop up not just greasy, oily messes but the grit and grime that often go along with them. They're super-absorbent and handy for blotting up chocolate ice cream spilled on clothing, as well as for home-improvement cleanups or paint and solvents. And, unlike regular domestic paper towels, the WypAll Work Towels don't start shredding when used for scrubbing the tub or wiping rough brick or concrete surfaces. They're also efficient for dusting jobs big and small. Their rough texture grabs and holds dust particles rather than just pushing them around the surface or into the air. Those concerned about throw-away products should know that the promotional information says they're washable and reuseable. But, if I were to use cloth rags instead of WypAll Work Towels for really icky projects, I most likely would be tossing them, too.
