I was skeptical. "Miracle" skin transformer• I have succumbed to the fact that I am not a teen (or even a 20) anymore, and my skin sure could use a small miracle, but I doubted anything in a little bottle was going to provide one.

Then I read the box: "Instantly transforms your skin in one application." Just one• I didn't know what to expect to come out of this bottle at this point, other than a little fairy with a magic wand. Not exactly, but close.

After thoroughly cleansing my face per the directions, I put a small drop on my finger ... Ewwww. This stuff is pretty thick, I thought. It feels awful heavy. I don't use foundation, because I don't like how heavy it is. I thought this was going to be the same.

Surprise!

I was able to smooth the product over my face and neck with ease. That pearl-size drop I was instructed to use actually was enough. My T-zone is exceptionally dry during winter months, so I was left with some flaking after the first application. I wasn't thrilled with that but was not yet turned off, because I know how temperamental my skin is. The next day, I cleansed, applied my usual moisturizer first and then put on the Miracle Transformer. Success.

I'm not sure over the week I have used it that I look any younger or whether my skin is any firmer, but I am happy with the coverage. It truly provides the matte finish other foundations have fallen short of.

At $48 for a small bottle, the price seems quite steep, but, considering I only need a small dollop each day, I am sure it will last quite a while. I will continue using the Transformation cream and decide after a longer period of time whether my skin is benefitting to the extent that it is worth that kind of loot.

Miracle Skin Transformer is the kind of product that's great to put on your face when you don't have the time to blend regular foundation or if you just need bare-bones coverage to run errands or go to the gym. The formula, part sunblock, part moisturizer and part foundation, provides a luminous screen over imperfections and dry patches on your skin.

In two weeks time, my skin was a little smoother and dewy -- with no traces of winter's wrath. The only problem for me is the cornstarch texture. The product is not quite greasy, but I needed to wash my hands after applying it -- something I don't need to do with my regular moisturizer and foundation. It felt a little heavy on my face, and although it had blended well, my skin started to shine sooner than it does with my normal regimen.

In all fairness, I have combination skin, with dry cheeks and an oily T-zone, and it proves a foil to many foundations. But at the steep price tag, I would expect Miracle Skin to have customized formulas like other companies do for dry, oily and sensitive skin types. If they can come up with more matte coverage, I would consider adding this to my cosmetics bag.

Most women learn their makeup routines from their mothers, and I am no exception. However, with her beautiful, olive complexion, my mom never wore much makeup and can set suntan records; whereas, my porcelain skin burns faster than flash paper in a magician's hands.

I'm not much for a makeup routine -- especially in the summer -- so double-duty products are heavily favored, and MST20 is a triple treat. SPF, moisturizer and tint. Score!

The light shade matches -- and evens out -- my skin perfectly and feels so much better than the combination of moisturizer and foundation I try to cobble together. The price tag becomes a bit more bearable when you realize the recommended "pearl-size" drop is more than enough.

Light exfoliation before using this product is key, but I am completely hooked.
