Growing up, my brother and sister and I were responsible for dividing the household chores every Saturday. We often fought about who would/should have to scrub the toilet. Because I was the oldest, I usually would take one for the team. I wish Scrubbing Bubbles would have come up with its Toilet Cleaning Gel 20 years ago. The plastic gel dispenser is easy to use, small enough to store under the bathroom sink, and -- best of all -- there's no need to touch any part of the toilet or get anywhere near the water. The gel disc can be positioned anywhere under the rim of the toilet, and with each flush cleans your entire bowl, releasing a fresh, just-cleaned lemon scent throughout your entire bathroom. The box says each disc will last seven days. After about five days, I noticed the scent fading a little, but a small portion of the disc still is attached to the bowl, meaning it's still cleaning -- and I'm not ! With a price of less than $5 and about six weeks worth of cleaning, I am completely sold. And, boy, did I take pleasure in calling my mom to tell her I'll never scrub another toilet as long as I live.

As a single father, I always try to find shortcuts around the house where cleaning is concerned, particularly in the bathroom. So it was with great anticipation that I prepared my toilet for the Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Cleaning Gel. After the brief assembly of the applicator, I chose installing the gel inconspicuously under the rim on the left. So far, after quite a few flushes, seeing as my son seems to live on the commode (I believe that he secretly has stock in toilet paper), the fresh scent still lingers and the bowl has stayed clean. I like this product over the type that goes in the tank. I've had problems with those systems causing the flapper to not seal properly after exposed usage resulting in a slow leak. Here, there's no colored water -- or a guy on a raft waiting to be flushed, for that matter -- just a pleasant scent that reminds you that it's still working. When this runs out, there is no doubt in my mind that I will purchase more.

This new product from Scrubbing Bubbles piqued my curiosity. Just getting a look at the applicator raised eyebrows in my home. But it's pretty cool. You push the applicator against the toilet bowl until the button clicks and -- voila! -- a crystal blue sapphire rosette is attached, gleaming in the light. Each flush releases a cleansing scent, so you trust it's working -- and that shiny white porcelain is further proof. The gel disc eventually dissolves over the promised week, so it's easy to know when time's up and you need to apply the next disc. At $4.19 for six weeks of flushing, the price works for me, too. Now, if they could come up with colors that coordinate with my bathroom fashion, my life would be complete.
