Minority students moved from dormitories at Illinois' Trinity College in Illinois returned to class under increased security Monday days after receiving hate mail threats.

The FBI and Bannockburn Police examined three racially threatening letters anonymously sent to several students through campus mail over the last two weeks that railed against African-American and Hispanic students at Trinity International University.

Administrators at the small Christian college 25 miles north of Chicago evacuated 43 minority students from undergraduate housing Thursday night and put them up at nearby motels as a precaution.

Investigators have questioned about a dozen people at the school but reportedly do not have a suspect.

"We do believe the risk as been reduced to a more manageable level," Nathan Grabher, an assistant resident director told the Chicago Tribune.

About 300 of the undergraduate college's 1,100 students are non-white.
