State police in Uniontown have charged four men on prostitution and related offenses.

In each case, the person charged allegedly approached an undercover police officer and requested sexual activity for money.

Charged were Salvatore Venturino, 37, of Uniontown; Rolla Sterbutzel, 57, of Gettysburg, Adams County; Robert Alkire, 36, of McClellandtown, and Joseph Lape Jr., 50, of Perryopolis.

The incidents took place in August, but charges were not filed until Thursday.

In each case, police said the defendant drove his vehicle along South Street in Uniontown on the evening of Aug. 17, approached a female state trooper who was working undercover and offered money in exchange for sexual activity.

Preliminary hearings for the four have been scheduled for Dec. 16 at 1 p.m.
