WASHINGTON — With 10 minutes to go Wednesday night at Trinity, it appeared Ringgold would get its first Class AAA Section 5 win of the soccer season. Leading 2-1, the Rams had given their best effort of the young season and their confidence was building with every kick. Then the Rams were called for two penalties. One resulted in a penalty kick and the other a direct kick. Trinity scored on both to claim a 3-2 win over the Rams (1-5, 0-3). “This is heartbreaking for the kids,” coach Ronnie Fransko said. “These kids did not deserve to lose. “It may not be tonight or tomorrow or next week or even on the soccer field for that matter, but these kids will be rewarded for how hard they are work- ing.” With Trinity (2-3-1, 1-2) leading 1-0 in the 31st minute, the Rams’ Tyler Dolanch was tackled in the Hillers’ box and was awarded a penalty kick. Dolanch came through for his teammates and tied the score. Nine minutes later, Rob Garland put the Rams ahead with a highlight-tape goal. Garland raced to a deflected ball from a Trinity defender on the left side from 18 yards out and one-timed it into the top right corner of the net. “That goal was beautiful,” Fransko said. “You won’t see many goals more amazing than that.” The Rams held the lead for 20 minutes until the two quick fouls were called. “I really feel for these kids,” said a disappointed Fransko. “The kids are working so hard, hands down. They are giving so much heart and they are resilient. “I wouldn’t want to coach any other kids and I mean that. I wouldn’t give them up for anyone else.” Ringgold hosts Canon McMillan Thursday. “I don’t know if it will be this game or the next, but we are going to put it all together and surprise someone,” Fransko said.
