Tycoon says he's not being held captive

A Lucknow, India, court has dismissed a petition alleging Indian tycoon Subrata Roy was being held captive by his wife and two others.

The petition argued Subrata, chairman of Sahara group, is a public figure and as such the public should know where he is.

However, the Allahabad high court dismissed the filing after an attorney for Sahara produced a letter allegedly written by Roy, saying he was not being held against his will, Rediff reported.

The letter dismissed allegations those allegedly holding Roy wanted to loot the company and transfer the funds to foreign accounts.

"As a result of the petition several newspapers throughout the country have carried out false and baseless news item based on the information given by the petitioner and his counsel," the letter said.

"I am not in anybody's captivity. I strongly object to such petition and demand stern action against those responsible for filing such frivolous petition."

The Calcutta Telegraph reported Roy had last been seen in public April 1 at his father's birthday party.
