Flight traffic for US Airways, once Pittsburgh International Airport's marquee carrier, has plummeted below 40 percent of the airport's total traffic, Allegheny County Airport Authority officials announced today.
The airline, whose CEO said this week more flights might be cut in Pittsburgh, reported a 26.1-percent drop in passengers, according to authority records. US Airways accounted for just under 39 percent of total airline traffic.
It is the first time in the airport's 15-year history that US Airways had fallen below the 40-percent mark, officials said.
Ten of the 12 airlines operating out of Pittsburgh International Airport posted increases in traffic this August, compared to the same time last year.
