UFC event at Consol sees another change
Yet another twist came to the main event of tomorrow’s UFC Live on Versus 4 at Consol Energy Center — and Hollidaysburg native Charlie Brenneman will benefit from it.
UFC veteran and former middleweight title challenger Nate Marquardt was scheduled to make his debut at welterweight in the main event against Rick Story, but Marquardt failed a pre-fight physical just hours before weigh-ins.
It is not clear if the weight drop was the reason for Marquardt’s exit, but now Brenneman (12-2) will face Story in the main card. Earlier in the week, Brenneman had been scheduled to fight T.J. Grant in a preliminary bout, but Grant pulled out due to illness.
The heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry is now the main event.
This is the second time the makeup of the main event has been altered. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson was orginally slated to fight Marquardt, but Johnson had to pull out after sustaining a shoulder injury at the beginning of the month.
