Uniontown attorney's law license suspended
The state Supreme Court has suspended for two years the law license of a Fayette County attorney who pleaded guilty last year to driving under the influence.
The court issued a Dec. 20 order suspending Brent E. Peck, who has practiced law for 14 years and has an office on East Main Street in Uniontown.
The order refers to a matter the court's disciplinary board began investigating in 2003 but doesn't describe the reason for the suspension.
State police charged Peck, 40, with drunken driving after a May 2003 crash involving four vehicles at a Dunbar Township junkyard.
He entered the county's Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program but was removed after he violated his probation by testing positive for cocaine use.
In August 2005, Judge Gerald Solomon sentenced Peck to a prison term of 48 hours to 23 months but immediately released him from custody because of a three-week stint he did in 2004 at a Connecticut residential inpatient treatment facility.
The judgesuspended Peck's driver's license for a year.
Three months ago, Solomon approved Peck's petition for early release from parole.
Despite the drunken driving conviction, Peck continued to represent clients. He is listed as the attorney of record for three criminal defendants whose cases may be called for trial in January.
Through a secretary, Peck declined to comment Wednesday about the disciplinary case.
According to a legal notice circulated by the Supreme Court, the suspension takes effect Jan. 19.
