A Uniontown man was jailed Tuesday for allegedly murdering and robbing a Point Marion man over a debt.
State police at Uniontown report that Tommy Daniel Williams, 24, of 163 Circle St., beat Barry James Strosnider, 41, to death over money and fled with the dead man's wallet containing more or less than $50.
Trooper John Marshall said the murder occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m. Monday in Strosnider's Point Marion home.
Lori Beth Strosnider contacted police Tuesday after she found her brother lying on the living room floor of their residence. Fayette County Deputy Coroner Alvin Sapp III pronounced Barry Strosnider dead at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Marshall interviewed witness Ashley Smith who said she talked to Williams at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Marshall's criminal complaint states: "Tommy told her that he went to Barry's house and that he hit Barry to kill him. Ashley told this officer that Tommy told her that Barry owed him money and that is what he gets for owing him money. She then stated that Tommy told her that he was going to go back to the house and beat him again."
Williams told police he did go to Strosnider's house for money owed him. A fight ensued.
"Williams stated that he beat Strosnider with his fists and then kicked Strosnider in the head with his feet when he was on the living room floor. Williams then stated that he left when he saw a puddle of blood near the head area of Strosnider and that he took Strosnider's wallet with its contents valued at more or less than $50," according to the affidavit.
Williams was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Dwight Shaner on charges of criminal homicide, robbery, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. He was sent to Fayette County Jail without bail. Shaner said a homicide charge does not qualify for bail.
Williams' preliminary hearing is tentatively set for 10 a.m. Nov. 6 before District Judge Randy Abraham.
