A Unity woman was killed late Monday when she was ejected through the sunroof of her car and struck by her boyfriend's motorcycle in Derry Township.

State police at Greensburg said Kelly Vinkler, 34, of Baggaley was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:15 p.m. crash along Industrial Boulevard, a quarter mile east of the intersection at Route 217.

Authorities said Vinkler and her boyfriend, Shane Rudy, 38, had been at a nearby tavern before the crash.

Vinkler was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt and was following Rudy, who was riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson.

Police said Vinkler failed to negotiate a left curve. Her car went off the road, struck a utility pole and ran up an embankment.

As her car rolled over, Vinkler was ejected onto the roadway into the path of Rudy's bike, police said. Rudy was unable to stop and struck Vinkler.

Deputy Coroner Tim O'Donnell pronounced Vinkler dead at the scene as the result of multiple blunt-force trauma to the head, chest, pelvis and extremities.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. in Jeannette.
