UPMC's Romoff tops $4 million in pay

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center CEO Jeffrey Romoff received more than $4 million in total compensation during the year ended June 30, 2007, documents filed today with the Internal Revenue Service show.

Romoff's total include more than $3.95 million in compensation, up 18 percent from the previous year, $41,968 put into the chief executive's pension plan, and $20,380 for taxable expenses, including such things as car allowance, spousal travel and legal and financial counseling.

Other UPMC executives who crossed the $1 million total compensation mark include Senior Vice President Elizabeth Concordia, with more than $1.3 million in total compensation, and Chief Legal Officer Robert J. Cindrich, with nearly $1.2 million in total compensation.

Robert A. DeMichiei, the medical center's chief financial officer, received $936,842 in total remuneration, while UPMC Treasurer C. Talbot Heppenstall Jr. was rewarded $680,960 in total compensation for the year ended June 30.
