Upper Tyrone retains engineer for sewerage project
Upper Tyrone Township Sewage Authority is hoping to keep things moving with the proposed sewerage project in the township.
The board this week appointed Morris Knowles and Associates Inc. as its engineer.
The engineering firm out of Delmont has been working on the project that was originated by Upper Tyrone supervisors for about two years.
The township entered into a contract with the engineering firm to begin design work on the project about two years ago, and paid $150,000 of the total $460,000 to do all the design work necessary up until putting out the project for bid.
The project is expected to bring public sewerage to nearly every township resident.
The board this week gave approval to the contract with Morris Knowles that previously had been approved by the township supervisors. The authority will take over the remaining debt obligation of $310,000 for project design.
The board agreed to pay back the township the $20,000 loaned to it when grant money or loan funding for the project is secured.
