Uptown man charged in 2012 Crafton Heights shooting
An Uptown man who wrote a letter of confession to a Pittsburgh police detective was arrested Monday on charges of shooting a man during a robbery in Crafton Heights last year.
Timothy J. Wynn, 21, was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, robbery and related crimes.
Michael W. Thomas, no age available, was wounded on April 19, 2012, at an apartment building on Crucible Street, a criminal complaint states. Two other men were implicated in the crime.
According to the criminal complaint: Wynn was taken into custody after a police detective received a letter from him on Dec. 4 confessing to the crime. When he was interviewed. Wynn said that he became upset when Thomas arrived home from work and walked by “saying ‘What’s up?’ in a rude way.” Wynn said he stole Thomas’ wallet and hat and shot him because he didn’t feel Thomas was carrying enough to steal.
