A Ford City man pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally owning nearly two dozen firearms while addicted to drugs, and selling four stolen guns, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady announced Thursday.

Jared T. Wolfe, 45, pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing 22 firearms while he was using controlled substances.

Between April and October 2015, Wolfe had 14 pistols and eight rifles, authorities said. He was addicted to and using heroin and suboxone at that time.

Federal law prohibits unlawful users of controlled substances from possessing firearms.

Wolfe also pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer to the unlawful possession, sale or disposal of stolen firearms.

Wolfe admitted that on two dates in July 2015, he sold one shotgun and three rifles that he knew or should have known had been stolen from a home in Castle Shannon.

Fischer scheduled sentencing for 9 a.m. April 9. Wolfe faces up to 30 years in prison and a $750,000 fine.
