Allegheny County Housing Authority police said they have closed their investigation into a shooting Monday morning at Harrison’s Sheldon Park housing complex because the victim is not cooperating with authorities.

“There’s not much we can do. This woman (who was shot) is not coming clean,” authority police Chief Mike Vogel said Tuesday. “We can’t substantiate anything without her cooperation.”

Vogel said he does not think the incident poses a threat to community.

He believes the shooting stemmed from a “domestic situation” in which someone she knows shot her or she accidentally shot herself. The woman has not been identified.

“I don’t see anybody needing to be alarmed or concerned in the community. This is an isolated incident between her and whoever,” Vogel said. “I don’t see any threat being posed to the community based on what had happened.”

Harrison police learned of the shooting around 7 a.m. Monday when the woman arrived at Allegheny Valley Hospital. Police said a friend drove her there. The woman was then taken to an unspecified Pittsburgh hospital, where she was treated and released, Vogel said.

Vogel said the woman was shot once in a bedroom at her apartment on Park Drive. He could not say what type of weapon was used.

A representative of the Allegheny County Police, which assisted with the investigation, did not respond to request for comment Tuesday.

Monday’s shooting came a week after Satomi Finch, 41, and her 16-year-old daughter Lilly Finch were shot by a neighbor as they returned home to their Sheldon Park unit on Municipal Drive. The shooter, Eddie Layne, 48, committed suicide.
