Apathy and stupidity reared their ugly heads at Pennsylvania's polls Tuesday, especially in Beaver County's 14th District, where the electorate voted for pay-jacker Mike Veon as their Democrat representative in the November general election.

As Pennsylvania voters, I thought we learned our lesson when arrogant, greedy, self-serving leeches like Veon and his cohorts orchestrated a midnight raid on the pocketbooks of every taxpaying citizen. The Legislature voted for the repeal of that pay raise. But in a fit of arrogance and betting on his political life and the indifference of his constituents, Veon was the only legislator to vote against the repeal of the pay raise.

This arrogant action, one of his many egotistic, deplorable and devious practices, should have been enough to send Beaver County voters flocking to the polls this past Tuesday to vote him out so he could join the many self-serving legislators in Pennsylvania Pension Heaven.

Veon gambled and counted on Beaver County's voters' lack of interest and stupidness and drew the winning hand. Beaver County voters deserve what they got -- an arrogant, self-serving politician.

And how dare Veon rip his challenger, Jay Paisley, in his lying TV political ads when he only caters to the rich and notables of Beaver County• Are we sure he's not a Republican?
