VIA Music & New Media Festival organizers tease lineup

Pittsburgh's VIA Music & New Media Festival, now in its second year, has announced its preliminary lineup for the Oct. 5 to 9 multi-venue, mostly electronic-music showcase.

Some of the most cutting-edge names in new electronic music are coming in from all over the world: UK producer Four Tet, Italian techno giant Donato Dozzy, Mexican underground hip-hop producer Toy Selectah, L.A. retro-future-funkster Dam-Funk, and complex instrumental rockers Battles from New York City.

Other performers include Danny Brown, Austra, FaltyDL, Light Asylum, Ford & Lopatin, Laurel Halo, Kingdom, Tim Sweeney, Blondes, Nuel, Pink Skull, Wolf Eyes and Protect-U. Pittsburgh talent will be amply represented, including Zombi, Centipede E'est, Smooth Tutors, Pure Hype, PTA and ELQ.

The performances will be divided among a number of venues all over the city, including the Rex Theater, Brillobox, Shadow Lounge, and a "soon-to-be-announced pop-up location."

Festival passes -- $95 for all five days, $75 for Oct. 7 to 9 -- go on sale Wednesday . Tickets to individual events will be on sale starting Aug. 10 at ShowClix.com .
