Victim's boyfriend arrested in Brookline shooting
Pittsburgh police arrested a man overnight accused of shooting a woman inside a Brookline home.
Daniel Skowron, 32, faces aggravated assault and drug and weapons charges, according to court records. He is being held at the Allegheny County Jail, according to a jail spokeswoman.
Police issued a warrant for Skowron, the victim's boyfriend, after the 27-year-old woman told detectives that he shot her yesterday afternoon after she turned to walk away from him.
Paramedics took the victim to UPMC Mercy, Uptown, where she was in stable condition last night, city police spokeswoman Diane Richard said. Richard did not identify the woman.
The woman was one of "numerous" people in the house on Bayridge Avenue about 12:15 p.m. when someone inside called 911 and reported that a shooting had occurred while someone was possibly playing with a gun, police Cmdr. Scott Schubert said.
The woman's mother, Toni Brown, told police she heard the shots and saw Skowron running down the stairs with a handgun. Skowron ran out the door and fled in a vehicle driven by another person.
When officers went into the home, they found crack cocaine, heroin and drug paraphernalia, Richard said. Brown, 53, will be charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia, Richard said.
Schubert said officers have been to the house numerous times, including a call for at least one fatal drug overdose.
