Charles “Buzz” Gabos is leaving his post as boys basketball coach at Vincentian Academy to become head coach at North Hills.

Gabos has more than 15 years of coaching experience — 12 at the varsity level. He previously served as a varsity assistant coach at North Hills for five seasons. In addition, he was instrumental in the development of the North Hills Elementary Basketball program, which serves boys and girls in grades 2 through 6.

During his seven-year tenure at Vincentian, Gabos won four section titles and qualified for the WPIAL playoffs six times. In 2000 and 2003, his teams reached the WPIAL finals.

“As a member of the community, I have been involved in youth sports for a number of years,” said Gabos, who lives in Ross Township. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to improve the quality of basketball in North Hills.”

Gabos is a fifth-grade teacher at Ross Elementary School.
